Flash Movies

The term Flash Movie may refer to any kind of animation embedded on a web page that is of .swf format, although the original source file of the animation may vary. For example, the program Swish also outputs to .swf format, and Macromedia Flash also outputs to .swf format.

To avoid confusion, you may want to specify the extension of the file that you are referring to:

  • .fla - Macromedia Flash source file, outputs to .swf
  • .swi - Swish source file, outputs to .swf
  • .swf - Outputted file that is actually embedded on a web page
