Specify the Location of the New Web Site

When creating a new Web in FrontPage, you may specify the location of the new web site. When you first use FrontPage, the default location is most likely going to be a subfolder called "mysite" or "myweb" in your My Documents\My Webs folder. Each time you create a new web, FrontPage automatically pulls the location of the previously created web site and adds a number to the subfolder. So, for example, if your last web was created at "My Documents\My Webs\mysite," FrontPage will suggest the next location at "My Documents\My Webs\mysite2."

You may change this default location to one of your own choosing. For example, you may change the suggested subfolder name to be something like "My Documents\My Webs\testdrive-realestate" if you are using our Real Estate test drive template. Changing the web folder name will help you to keep your web folders organized. (You may browse to another location on your computer - you aren't limited to the My Documents\My Webs folder!)

If your web server has FrontPage extensions, you may create a web directly on your web server by typing in the http:// location. For example, if www.yoursite.com has FrontPage extensions and you don't have anything on the server yet, you could type "http://www.yoursite.com" and create a web directly there.

You may create a subweb on your web server (if it has FrontPage extensions) by typing a name of a new subfolder after your domain. For example, you could type "http://www.yoursite.com/testweb" to create a web site in a "testweb" subdirectory.
